FYI was founded in March 2024 by Shaquile Welch, but the foundation was laid years earlier. And it started with music.
Music came first. Call it the egg. Everything else hatched from there.
Designing artwork, printing shirts, shooting videos — none of it started as a business idea. It started because Shaquile wanted to create his own merch, direct his own visuals, and bring his own ideas to life without waiting on anyone else or hoping someone else would see the vision the way he saw it. That need for creative control turned into a skill set. That skill set turned into a studio.
The equipment grew alongside the ambition. A heat press came early. Then came the decision to expand — a cutting machine, a badge maker, more tools, more capabilities. That investment, made right before a 9-5 job ended, made the transition into running FYI full time far smoother than it might have been. And as the business found its footing, the equipment kept growing too.
What makes FYI different isn't just the range of services. It's the philosophy. Design and print under one roof. No briefing an external printer who doesn't know the design. No sending files back and forth hoping the colours stay true. What we design, we produce. That's the difference.
